Elisabeth Geel, jazz singer-songwriter and visual artist, was born in the Netherlands, where she studied classical guitar and vocal technique. After finishing her education she moves to the United States. During this two years' stay she travels from Alaska to California and Arizona, singing in music clubs and developing her skills as an artist/illustrator studying with local artists. Returning to Europe she works as a singer and illustrator, in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. Since 1988 she has been a full-time professional singer. She works as a vocalist in recording studios, sings backing vocals on various recordings and writes songs for other performing artists. From 1993 to 2002 she performs all over the world, singing and playing music from a great variety of traditions, touring Germany, Denmark, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, Dubai, the United States and Asia. In 2003 she moves to Italy and forms a band to bring her own songs and jazz standards in different settings. She plays on festivals like Veneto Jazz, UBI Jazz, Marca Jazz, Terramossa, Friuli Venezia Giulia Jazz, Marostica in Jazz, Dutch Jazz Competition. In 2007 she spends several months in Los Angeles to work with renowned musicians from the Latin Jazz and Funk circuit. Since May 2010 Elisabeth lives in Tucson, Arizona (USA).
RECORDINGS: In 2006 she records her first solo album entitled “So Cool” (Mprecords). As a guest singer she appears on Zooga Jazz 2, featuring Fabrizio Bosso (Zoogami, 2006) and she records five tracks on Aaron Tesser’s album “Lookin’ Ahead” (Irma Records, 2008). Her latest album “Preface to a Dream” (2009) is produced by the Schio Music Academy (Schio, Italy). The CD contains eleven new songs arranged for string orchestra and jazz quintet by Bruno Cesselli, Ettore Martin, Federico Malaman,Toni Moretti, and by Elisabeth herself.
In the summer of 2009 she recorded the album “Numbers”, with Bruno Cesselli (piano), Mattia Martorano (violin) and Alessandro Turchet (bass), soon to be released.
